What are your thoughts on medical transcription service organizations like Nuance implementing a no-blanks policy in many of their medical transcription contracts. If blanks are left, it is usually because information is not clear and needs to be verified for confirmation. A no-blanks policy invites MTs to guess, leading to possible critical errors. If blanks are left, this leads to a reduction in pay of the MT for something that if often beyond their control. This practice is a disgrace and should never be allowed to happen. Are hospitals aware of this kind of policy being implemented for many accounts that Nuance has?
